Taking Naltrexone (Naratriptan)

If you have ever taken drugs for an addiction, you will know how potent and addictive naltrexone is. For those that are unaware of what it is, here are some information about the drug and how to take it. The drug Naltrexone is also called NSAID or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. This is a prescription drug used to treat pain and inflammation associated with ulcers, osteoarthritis, kidney problems, and other conditions.

One of the most common problems associated with the use of NSAID is stomach pain. In fact, it is one of the most common reason people seek medical treatment. If you take this drug on a regular basis, you can experience severe and frequent stomach pains that can be unbearable at times. If you have a problem with stomach pain, then you should not take the medication unless you consult your doctor. You will want to talk to your doctor about the side effects of this drug.

Naltrexone is prescribed mainly for patients taking chronic pain medications because of its ability to block serotonin receptors, which are involved in transmitting pain signals to the brain. However, there are certain side effects associated with its use. You will experience nausea, restlessness, flushing, and headaches. In more severe cases, nausea and vomiting may lead to diarrhea.

If you find these side effects bothersome and uncomfortable, you can try to taper off your prescription. The dosage can be lowered gradually over a period of time until you no longer notice the side effects. However, you should not stop taking it without the express written approval of your doctor. If you stop taking it, you could experience rebound depression, which is very dangerous. It can affect your quality of life.

If you have arthritis, lung problems, or kidney problems, you should consult with your doctor before taking this or any other over-the-counter or prescription anti-anxiety medication. Many drugs have associated side effects that can be very serious. Naltrexone should also not be used by pregnant or breast feeding women. If you’re taking sedatives, narcotics, or alcohol, you should consult with your physician or a medical practitioner before taking this or any other over-the-counter or prescription drug. Although the National Institute of Mental Health warns against using Naltrexone, doctors note that studies have shown it to be safe when taken under proper supervision.

Naltrexone is not without side effects though. Some patients report feeling agitated, depressed, restless, and anxious after taking it. It can cause weight loss, if taken without food for a period of time. You should not drive while taking this drug.
